Hello there and Welcome to LAN PARTYS UK's Official Website,here you can  find out what’s going on with the LANPartys and peoples opinions in the PC gaming scene. Once a month in a small town called Milnrow near Rochdale lots of PC   Gamers get together to Play LAN (Local Area Network) games, Check Location for Map and directions  at the top. There’s no unfairness all are equal with the same connection speed and we  play all the latest and greatest games available for the PC as well as discuss PC related stuff. We play any games suggested either on the night or in the forum, the kinda  games we play are Quake, Unreal Tournament, Countersrtike, Colin Mcraes, Delta force 3 and  many more. The night starts from around 6:30pm and runs for about 12 hours during that  time you get Super Food and as much gaming and file swapping as you please. The Real good bit is that you can see the people you are playing against so  you can take the piss or have the piss taken depends how good you are :))

On average there have been between 35 and 45 people turning up and the  numbers are getting higher so rest assured there will be enough people there and  games to play and things to share. We have an IRC chat room on the gaming  server IRC.BARRYSWORLD.COM join channel #LANPARTYS u cant get mIRC from www.mirc.com just click connect to and add  server. You will need to bring your PC, Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, ,Leads and also  have a Network card (NIC) which you can pick up for about £10-£15 Make sure its  10/100 Mbs to gain the best connections at the LAN and the last thing u need is  CAT 5 or 6 Cable (we have spares). Don't forget to bring your Games and anything  of interest that you think might be worth sharing. We are looking for people who are willing to contribute opinions of the LAN  nights if you fancy doin a bit of typing then i will submit a new links called  People's Opinions,also we are looking for game reviews and people to propose new  games to be played at LAN (We are always on the lookout for new games) If you  feel upto typing your story of the LAN night or whatever just join the IRC  channel and Tell OPs.

New Hub/Switch Success

Due to some minor problems we’ve been having at the LAN’s we decided to upgrade the network speed from 10 to 100Mbs,this was done by purchasing a 24 port Hub and 2 fast Ethernet switches.

From the impression i got everybody was happy on the night with the connection speed and to give you an idea of the speeds it was taking 5 minutes to transfer 1GB across the network,the game pings where slightly better but not very much noticeable.

Colin McRaes 2 Mayhem

The last LAN we had was mainly spent racing around on Colin Mcraes Rally,with 4 people bringing there wheels (Cus-UK,Kippin Kev,Superman,Maverick).

I must admit the wheels are rather good but can set you back around £99 and then you gotta watch you don’t loose the pedals under the table or your monitor rolls off the table due to excessive turning :P

New Superleague Proposed

I have proposed a new idea for a gaming league,bellow are the rules:-

OK i reckon if there’s say 16 people all up for the  league,each person suggests there star game.(£1 entrance fee-winner takes  all)Points scored as follows:-1st 16 points 16th 1 point(If u win  your star game u get double points)A person is entered into competition if  they do the following:-(1) agree to install all required s/ware(2)  Propose there star game(3) Put £1 each in for winner IF this sounds fun  then post your name,map and star game in the forum,Remeber u might need a spare few  GIG -----Click here-----

New games wanted for LAN

If you can recommend any good games that we should play at the LAN which we don’t all ready then please post them in Forum or Mention on IRC channel, most of the guys are pretty much up for playing anything from Colin Mcraes to Quake 2.

If they are Mods or Downloads make sure to bring them along on the night!!!!

New Network Monitor Software

Although VERY Unlikely people can use the LAN to get people with Trojans,Worms or Viruses.

Its at this point that i thought better to be on the safe side and have purchased a network packet monitor program which can monitor the entire contents and logs all files transferred to and from the network.

THERE HAS NOT BEEN A CASE OF THIS YET AT ALL!! WE ARE JUST PLAYING IT SAFE 

Microsoft V Sony V Nintendo

Who’s gonna win the console supremacy race?

As well as Microsoft and Sony, Nintendo announced that they will be releasing the Dolphin early 2002.

I personally think Sony already have won the console war because of the amount of software company’s they own and the sheer amount of software houses developing titles for the machine already.

And to guarantee this they have dropped the price down to £199 (I truly don’t think we seen the true power of the Sony Playstation 2 ) Don’t forget the Broadband Gaming capabilites.Only time will tell.

I think Nintendo should have stuck to the gameboy and microsoft to Dodgy operating sytems :P JK

New gaming channels on Digital TV

Bravo have recently launched a gaming Channel called Gamers network ,aswell as Dot TV which is a superb channel that teaches you how to send E-mail to creating your own animations in director.

Also you may have noticed the new games on Sky,the trick is you get them free for 2 weeks then they charge you £1 telephone call to continue playing. I think this is a bit cheeky!!
